Kelsee Sawyer

Assistant Coach | 18 APEX

Kelsee Sawyer will serve as the Assistant Coach for 18 APEX this season, bringing elite collegiate playing experience, championship coaching experience, and a passion for developing athletes to Arizona Legacy. A former outside hitter at California State University, Bakersfield, Kelsee became one of the most accomplished attackers in program history, surpassing 1,000 career kills, earning All-WAC honors, and helping lead the Roadrunners to a Western Athletic Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. During her senior season, she totaled 395 kills, finishing her career as one of the program's all-time leaders.

Following her collegiate career, Kelsee coached throughout Southern California before relocating to Arizona, where she joined Arizona Storm Elite. During her time there, she helped coach teams to multiple Open Division championships and an Open Division silver medal at the USA Girls Junior National Championship, gaining experience developing athletes at one of the highest levels of club volleyball.

In her first season with Arizona Legacy, Kelsee led 14 APEX to the 2026 Arizona Region Spring Championship, a bronze medal at the USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championship, and a No. 3 national ranking in the country. Her ability to combine technical instruction with genuine relationships quickly established her as one of the club's emerging leaders.

Away from volleyball, Kelsee works at Phoenix Children's Hospital, where she serves families with the same compassion, professionalism, and commitment she brings into the gym. She believes athletes grow best in an environment where they are supported, challenged, and held accountable. 

Her goal is to help every player build confidence, develop a high volleyball IQ, and leave Arizona Legacy prepared for success both on and off the court.
