Daniel Velasquez Wilson leads Arizona Legacy Volleyball Academy with a focus on athlete development, character-driven coaching, and creating a culture where boys volleyball is valued and competitive. With experience spanning high school, club, collegiate, and professional levels, Daniel approaches coaching with the mindset of helping athletes grow both on and off the court.


He currently serves as the Head Boys Volleyball Coach at Shadow Ridge High School, where he was named 2024 AIA West Valley Region Coach of the Year after guiding the program to its fourth consecutive region title and a top-five finish in Arizona’s 6A state tournament. That season, his athletes earned 11 All-Region honors, including Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year. His teams have produced AVCA High School All-Americans, AVCA Watch List selections, and multiple All-State honorees.


Daniel has coached at the club level with Arizona Storm Elite Volleyball Club and other local boys volleyball clubs. Many of his athletes have gone on to earn national-level recognition, including AVCA All American Honors, USA Volleyball National Team Development Program (NTDP) invites, High Performance Team selections, and AVCA High Riser honors.


At the collegiate level, Daniel served as an assistant coach for indoor and beach volleyball at the NCAA Division I level prior he was a graduate assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Ottawa University Arizona (NAIA). During that time, he helped guide student-athletes to conference honors, All-American selections, and a GSAC Libero of the Year award.


As a player, Daniel competed as a libero and team captain at both Missouri Valley College and Ottawa University Arizona, contributing to:

  • A #1 NAIA national ranking
  • Multiple conference championships and runner ups in the Golden State Athletic Conference and Heart of America Athletic Conference
  • An collegiate  National Championship
  • Multiple NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances


He began his playing career at Mojave High School in Las Vegas, where he won two Nevada State Championships (2014, 2015) and was a State Runner-Up in 2013.


In 2024, Daniel joined the Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball League as a practice aide, supporting one of the top professional environments for volleyball in the United States supporting 40 professional athletes including olympians and national team members.
